A couple of years ago Dane Reynolds tucked his left knee while doing an air in Mexico. We’d never seen a surfer do it like that. And I remember Curren Caples — who was probably 15 at the time — was one of the first people to say that it was one of the first airs in a long time that a skater would appreciate. Since then, surfing and skating have begun to intertwine here and there, with at least a layer of appreciation exposed. Curren is one of this generation most stylish hybrids to emerge from this old romance. More professionally known as a skateboarder, Curren has a distinctly poetic and tweaked style in transition and has developed his street skating in recent years as seen in his Flip 3 part. He surfs extremely well and it’s fascinating to watch the different approaches he brings to each. An ode to Nathan Fletcher’s ability in surfing and skating, using them to influence the other. 041 | Drive across Australia.

Creed McTaggart’s a student of Australian surf culture, and, as any keen student knows, if you really want an authentic experience, then you’ve got to hit the road. After finally getting his licence, Creed picked a Toyota Land Cruiser from the classifieds of the local newspaper, scooped up brother in arms Beau Foster, filmmaker Toby Cregan and photographer Duncan Macfarlane, and hit the red dust east in search of surf and the Australian dream. The loose plan was to drive from Creed’s family home in Margaret River, to his adopted habitat in Byron Bay. Whether the boys realised quite how far this was (5,000km in a straight line) is at this stage unknown. Adventure.

039 | Deus 9ft and single.
So you missed the four-day party bender that was the Deus 9ft & Single presented by SWELL. From bodysurfing contests, to shaping forums, to single-fin shootouts and everything in between, it was a fine way to spend an extended weekend. Whether the waves come to the table at these kind of events can mean the difference between an exciting performance or a drinking marathon, and in this case it was a mixture of the two. 034 | Where is Alfredo Gonzales.
#work
With two campers we drove south to shoot the new campaign for our brand Alfredo Gonzales. On our way to the south of France we picked up someone that would because or now friend, Marissa Papen, who is killing it on Instagram and after we approached her immediately said yes to join a bunch of strangers in campers shooting their new sock collection. Road tripping’ is what we all love and so we blended the passion for the road and called the new campaign “Where is Alfredo”. The search was on to find the Mexican legend and shoot while searching. We heard rumors of him being in Paris and shot the Pencil collection meanwhile. When we got further south we focus on camping, hipster hikes, and surf. Two weeks and a lot of rain that the Basque country needs to feed the amazing green hills. Great vibes together with Ivo de Bruijn we shot the photos (below only my own images), Hugo Happel and Dennis Ebeli focused on the production of the shoot and the Art Direction and made sure we never lacked on coffee and burgers. Road trip video by Off The Richter. Great memories and images. And readers, know that I’m always ready for the road.
Crew: Hugo Happel, Marisa Papen, Tom Munneke, Dennis Ebeli, Denni van Huis, Yannick de Jager, Tim Padmos.

Wherever you are in the world, on whatever day at some point the sun also rises. Narrated by Burgs a spiritual teacher, connecting concentration and mindfulness. I’ve spent time in meditation with Rin Poche (one of Burgs principle teachers) and through daily conscious living I’m trying to connect with what Burgs talks about here. I find myself so busy yet with so many wonderful things surrounding me I often forget to sit still and watch the birds, so this mediation is a reminder for all to sit and appreciate our incredible world. Words and video by Leonardo Dalessandri. "Over than 3500 km traveled in 20 days, capturing landscapes from the bluish tones of Pamukkale to the warm ones of Cappadocia, the all passing by a great variation of colors, lights and weathers through six other cities. I've crossed Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Ephesus, Istanbul, Konya; and tasted baklava, kunefe, doner, the turkish tea; and got the chance to meet the soul of Turkey, its people.. and got their smiles and their hospitality. This is Turkey lived by me from north to south, and I hope you enjoy it".

In the Spring of 2014 a small group of close friends broke ground on a building project in Skamania County, Washington in the Columbia River Gorge. Their primary endeavour was a multi-platform tree house, but also included a skate bowl and a wood fired soaking tub as well. The crew came from all over the country and from a variety of backgrounds. Some were professional carpenters, others learned on the job, gaining experience along the way. The Cinder Cone is Foster Huntington’s short film that documents this year-long process of building his dream home with this community of tight knit friends. A Farm League Original.
