Honolua Blomfield’s Hawaiian roots run deep. She started surfing when she was two she claims and now 18 years later she shines as the Women’s World Champion longboard supported by O'Neill. We got in touch via Instagram and asked me if I could take lifestyle shots of her and hang out while being in Ericeira. Surfing wasn’t really an option as the waves were actually bigger than two-story buildings while Nazaré was firing further up north. We did get to see some amazing weaves rolling in and the sun. Hono is so easy and fun to work with, a lovely person and amazing surfer.

Dane Reynolds quiet, still one of the best.
054 | Fight for flight.
Bruce Lee moves in the evening sun. Having the pro’s in town put things in perspective. They make waves I thought were not worth riding look like marvels and drops that I thought were unmakeable they make me think twice. Living this year in Ericeira, Portugal, maybe in the most beautiful coastal town and full of surf, it is famous for her waves and in October 2011 they called it ‘a World Surfing Reserve when this was declared by the international organization Save the Waves Coalition. It was only the 2nd Reserve to be distinguished worldwide and remains the only one in Europe until today. Good waves attract great surfers and when they are around its beautiful to capture their dance.

Creed McTaggart’s a student of Australian surf culture, and, as any keen student knows, if you really want an authentic experience, then you’ve got to hit the road. After finally getting his licence, Creed picked a Toyota Land Cruiser from the classifieds of the local newspaper, scooped up brother in arms Beau Foster, filmmaker Toby Cregan and photographer Duncan Macfarlane, and hit the red dust east in search of surf and the Australian dream. The loose plan was to drive from Creed’s family home in Margaret River, to his adopted habitat in Byron Bay. Whether the boys realised quite how far this was (5,000km in a straight line) is at this stage unknown. Adventure.
039 | Deus 9ft and single.
So you missed the four-day party bender that was the Deus 9ft & Single presented by SWELL. From bodysurfing contests, to shaping forums, to single-fin shootouts and everything in between, it was a fine way to spend an extended weekend. Whether the waves come to the table at these kind of events can mean the difference between an exciting performance or a drinking marathon, and in this case it was a mixture of the two. Photos by Ben Osborne and Rick Snowden for Deus.

This is a Rhythm surf documentary brought together by likeminded folk to blend surf, art, music, travel & craftsmanship through various chapters, into one total experience. The film takes you on a journey around the world from Australia’s East Coast to Indonesia, Northern Africa and the famous point breaks off central California.

A Film By John Florence & Blake Vincent Kueny in Association With Brain Farm. "View From A Blue Moon", the first surf film shot in 4K, View From A Blue Moon follows the world's most dynamic surfer John Florence and his closest friends from his home on the North Shore of Oahu to his favorite surfing destinations around the globe. From the dreamy blue perfection of the South Pacific to the darkest uncharted waters of Africa (and everywhere in between), Florence faces a broad spectrum of emotions as he continues to seal his legacy as one of the most gifted surfers ever. And while the young Hawaiian is pulled in increasingly different directions, there is no form of pressure that will keep him from his ultimate goal - to redefine what is possible in the ocean.

Craig Anderson is one of the great surfers of his time. He shot to a place of being impossible to ignore immediately following Modern Collective and has hummed along in perfect rhythm ever since. Welcome Elsewhere is a curation of his most recent time spent on the road, through Tahiti, deep Australia, Indonesia and more, exploring Craig's love of being in the jungle or going mysto in the desert. The real star here is the Kandui's century swell footage we've all been waiting for, on which he rode a 5'4" Hypto Krypto and much virality afterwards, but there's plenty of other pleasant surprises in here. This is, as you might expect, a study in pure style. Film by Kai Neville.

Corona x Monster Children teamed up and ventured to the island of Sri Lanka inviting along current World Champion Stephanie Gilmore, Craig Anderson, Dion Agius, Dylan Rieder and Andrew Allen, squeezed them into a decrepit bus and ventured from one side of the island to the other, on a quest to uncover surf and tactile skate spots for our latest Team Average trip? The team was victorious in adventure, friendships were forged and the guys proved themselves to be above average. By Mike Piscitelli.
